Snap isn't working because it was never included in the distro.

and since snapd is nonfree software I don't think it should ever be add to this distro.

if you want to use Flatpak you can do that by installing it the Debian way. https://flatpak.org/setup/Debian

Flatpak is installed by default and can be accessed via the Software Center and the command line interface.
